A Word From the Owner
Growing up my mom and dad had a love for old things and loved going to auctions. They would teach us the craft of antiques and the treasure in the "junk."
Being from Chicago, many sales were held in the basements of homes due to no yard space or garage. A common practice even for Church rummage sales.
When my parents divorced, my mom married my stepdad Ron, whom also had a love for a great bargain. He and mom started traveling and doing shows. All the while I was always junkin and considered myself a Junker.
I even taught my two girls the craft. They loved the thrill of an awesome find. As years went by and my kids have grown and ventured on their own, my mom and I became known for having annual garage sales.
People just loved the variety of items we had to offer.
I was working a full time job and became ill, which prohibited me from working. I decided for something to do, I’d have a sale in the basement.
To my surprise, it was a huge success! The thought of people walking through my living room to shop my basement was second nature to me. Everyone was welcomed!
I began having more and more sales and began to love it more than my job. As circumstances changed drastically in my job, I chose to leave and pursue my basement and my junkin' dream.
Going back to my roots...I created a friendly atmosphere in my basement and filled it with things I loved and hoped my customers would too. Which brings me to today....thanks to my fabulous customers (whom I refer to as family) I get to continually do what I love. My goal is to keep my roots in mind and spread the love of junk to you all...most importantly to treat everyone like FAMILY!
Love, Mel
